Summary

Description
English: Dress

ca. 1880 Two large deer hides were laced up the sides and across the top to create this elegant dress. The tails of the deer where folded down and sewn with sinew to form a signature design element. The decorated yoke is cut as a separate piece and sewn over the shoulders. The yoke is decorated with beads to form the undulating design common to this region. This design compliments the tail elements and creates a natural flow with the hides that highlight the wearer. Hide (Odocoileus spp), glass beads. H. 140.0, W. 146.0 cm
