Hi! I’m 기나ㅏㄴ(ginaan) from South Korea. I joined the Wikimedia community in late 2021. I major in Programming and Intelligent Semiconductors. So I often create or import(translate) various scripts into local wiki. I am also interested in developing and revising policies. I was named Wikimedian of the Year of kowiki in both 2022 and 2024. (guess that's the only thing I can brag about😢) The main reason for participating in Wikimedia projects is simple - to have fun. Because of that, I tend to communicate in a lighter tone than most users. However, when it comes to the use of extended tools, I'm a rather conservative principlist and a perfectionist. In particular, I believe that administrator tools should never be used unless there is a clear and solid justification. I believe the most important thing in using admin tools is "proper procedure".
My work
I am engaged in the following volunteer activities.
I have a very negative view of edit wars, especially move revert wars, which should never happen. We should avoid damaging the edit history of a page and make earnest efforts to resolve disagreements through discussion first.
I don't see anything wrong with collecting hats. Even if someone holds many permissions, I believe they deserve them as long as they put in the effort that matches those responsibilities.
My username originally came from my Brawl Stars nickname. I intended to type my real name at first, but I made a typo and ended up saving it as it was.
My username is a string that cannot be properly read in Korean. The characters 기/나/ㅏ/ㄴ correspond to gi/na/a/n.
Although NamuWiki has more users than Korean Wikipedia, most contributors there do not cite their sources. For that reason, I choose not to edit on that wiki.
I learned English mainly through studying for the CSAT. Because I haven't had many opportunities to use English in daily life, my writing may sometimes sound a bit formal.
I really love cats. Among the pages I've created, my favorite is the "List of cat breeds."
I am a programmer, though I don't consider myself particularly skilled at programming. It often feels like ChatGPT is far more capable than I am.
